UX Designer/Design Lead

This role will lead our design direction and will be predominantly tasked with not only thought leadership but also the day to day design production of our assets across the marketplace. You’ll be designing for multiple user types with varying levels of technical adoption, and you'll manage User Research and testing, prototyping and producing our full working designs.
First and foremost we need you to put the user at the centre of everything we do. We're expecting you to be someone who can advocate for solutions that make using our marketplace an experience like never before. Someone who can rethink and reimagine user experiences will love this role and will be backed to the hilt, someone who can take risks and stand behind their decisions.
We'll need you to design highly effective experiences that strike the right balance between stakeholder expectations, customer requirements and business needs. You'll also need to have the personal gravitas to manage internal and external relationships at multiple levels of influence.
It is expected that you to be an expert across the common tools for design and to have worked in an agile environment, with autonomy, some ambiguity, focus and a bias for getting things delivered.
There are no set parameters on how many years experience someone needs to have to be in this role. However, we'd expect to see a portfolio or link in your application that showcases your work. That work needs to show your ability to simplify the complex and deliver exceptional experiences.

This role will be predominantly tasked with not only thought leadership but responsibility for leading our technology strategy, vision and architecture to support innovation as well as a scalable, robust and secure marketplace. We need someone who can help us build a low latency, high availability, asynchronous, distributed system.
Given that our user base will have varying degrees of technical adoption, you'll need to work with our design team to deliver a marketplace and app that puts the user at the centre of everything we do. We're expecting you to be someone who understands contemporary SaaS architecture, can build and lead highly efficient teams and someone who consistently advocates for solutions that pragmatically solve the technical challenges we’ll face.
We expect you to be expert across the frameworks, languages, architecture and cloud practices needed to deliver the system we envisage. At this point in your career, you’re probably a Tech lead or Senior technologist who is ready to step up to the next level, or, an experienced CTO who’s already been through the startup process and is looking for a new adventure. Either way, you’ll need to be comfortable with ambiguity and making decisions that inform our technical direction. You can get granular at code level when needed and equally, can succinctly articulate complex concepts to non-technical audiences.

Tourism Partnerships Manager - Melbourne

You: A partnerships guru, with a love of travel and sports and a desire to set the direction of your career in the startup industry. You will develop and cultivate relationships with partners across travel, tourism and international student networks, from travel agencies to backpacker groups and everything in between. This includes direct client relations to developing marketing and communication strategies to growing international visitors that use the SportsHosts platform while collaborating closely with our marketing team. We value quality over quantity.   • Proven ability to execute on a smart yet ambitious marketing plan
  • Whiz at putting together presentations and proposals for pitches
  • Experience in creating high quality, engaging content for digital channels
  • Past demonstrable experience building audiences online or offline
  • Strong writing and communication skills with attention to detail
  • Amazing at building and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, particularly SportsHosts’s partners and prospects
  • Possess influencing, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Maintain current, reliable knowledge of industry and marketplace
  • Ability to work independently within a small team with a startup mindset

  • A strong network of existing travel and tourism partners based in Melbourne
  Things you will do day-to-day:
  • Researching travel, tourism and international student partners who might be interested in a value-add for their current offerings to international guests
  • Contacting prospects with a view to securing a meeting
  • Preparing presentations for meetings and presenting our products to prospects
  • Be involved in brainstorming meetings, both internal and external, to come up with new and innovative ways to engage current and new fans  (based on client objectives)
  • Developing holistic partnership communication plans individualized for each partner inclusive of strategies that align with partners objectives, activation timeline, implantation tactics, and creating measurable results
  • Driving partner renewal strategy and process leveraging research, analytics, and identification of upsell
  • Maintaining day-to-day communication with partners and delivering exceptional customer service with an emphasis on building and sustaining relationships.
  • Develop and execute a MarComms strategy for SportsHosts aimed at attracting international guests
  • Manage the SportsHosts website, email communications, LinkedIn, Twitter, Medium and Facebook feeds (and others) relevant to Melbourne GameDay stories
  • Produce powerful stories and blog posts around international guests and their stories
  • Social media : Generate, seed and manage external content to grow the community around international guests
  • Participating in the planning and execution of events that affect the company as a whole.
