Startup Victoria COVID-19 Policy

At Startup Vic, we take the safety and well-being of our team and community as our highest priority. In response to the recent updates on the risk of COVID-19, we have implemented a Coronavirus Policy. Within the Policy you will find general health and safety information; an update on our operations moving forward and a list of helpful resources and references. Anyone from within the community is welcome to use and/or re-purpose this policy to fit their own needs.

There is a PDF version available for you to download below. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us via the usual channels. In the meantime, stay well and remember our community is here to help if you need it.

Startup Victoria COVID-19 Policy

The following policy has been prepared to protect the health and safety of Startup Victoria staff and our community due to the recent and rapid escalation of the Coronavirus pandemic. We encourage others to take similar steps to reduce the spread of the virus.

Why we created this policy

It is a challenging and confusing time for everyone. We encourage you to take care of your personal health as a priority. If we collectively protect our individual health, we can protect those who are most at risk from COVID-19 in our broader community.

Whilst we are following this policy ourselves, we encourage you to use it as a starting point or template for your own policy.

General health and wellbeing

Take care of your health and protect others by doing the following:

  • Wash your hands frequently – alcohol-based rub or soap and water.
  • Maintain social distancing – at least 1 metre from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Practice respiratory hygiene – covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  • If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early.

Overseas Travel

If you return from overseas travel, develop illness and symptoms or live in a household with someone who develops illness and symptoms, we encourage you to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days upon your return to Australia.

Working from home

The Startup Victoria team are working from home (WFH) for the foreseeable future, and all internal and external meetings are to be held via video conference. We encourage you to do the same wherever possible.

Startup Victoria Operations and Events

Many in-person community events and gatherings have been, or are in the process of being cancelled or postponed. Startup Victoria will continue to deliver our regular events and programs online, including:

  • Founder Connect structured networking breakfasts
  • Growth Club founder dinners and education events
  • Pitch Night competitions

Our website, socials and newsletters will continue to share the latest happenings from across the ecosystem. Our team will continue supporting founder success through the development of new programs and the sharing of information resources to support startups at this time.
