Melbourne’s tech community rallies to raise funds for Foodbank Victoria

Anchored by tech leaders Lucidchart, Wrike, Lander & Rogers, Podium and YBF Ventures, the 2020 Melbourne Tech Foodbank Fundraiser welcomes the Melbourne tech and entrepreneurial community to help those experiencing food insecurity as a result of the pandemic.

Five of Melbourne’s largest tech and innovation-focused companies have joined forces to fundraise for Foodbank Victoria, an independent not-for-profit that provides food relief to individuals and families facing hardship.

Foodbank Victoria is the state’s oldest and largest food relief organisation with 90 years’ experience and feeds more than 140,000 Victorians every month.

COVID-19 has caused severe economic challenges across the state. Many are out of work due to closures and an increasing number of Victorians are accessing food relief, including those who have never needed help before.

Leading visual workspace, Lucidchart; collaborative work management software company, Wrike; lawyers and legaltech experts, Lander & Rogers; local business messaging platform, Podium and tech and innovation hub, YBF Ventures are leading the fundraising charge.

An initial goal of $15,000 has been set for the raise, to be reached by 31 August 2020. For ‘every $1 donated, two meals are created’ for Victorians in need. Luchidchart will be matching any donations up to $1,000. Lander & Rogers has pledged $2,500 and Wrike, Podium and YBF Ventures have pledged $1,000 towards the goal.

Fintan Lalor, Wrike’s APAC Regional Manager said, “Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting so many lives. Eliminating hunger is especially urgent during these extremely challenging times. Wrike is proud to partner with Foodbank Victoria and support the local community.”

Genevieve Collins, Chief Executive Partner of Lander & Rogers said, “We’re really proud to be able to be part of this joint effort to assist our local community at this crucial time. It’s collective efforts such as these that make a difference.”

Justin Lafeen, Lucidchart’s Director of Sales, APAC said, “We are fortunate to be in Victoria and to be part of the vibrant community in Melbourne. Our hope is that these efforts will encourage others to support our neighbours – individuals and families – who need help to get through hardship.”

Steve Garcia, VP International Sales at Podium said, “This time has brought such significant challenges like we’ve never seen and there has never been a more important time for us all to come together to confront them. Podium is grateful to be a part of this community and proud to be partnering together with Foodbank Victoria to make a positive impact for those who need it most.”

Farley Blackman, CEO of YBF Ventures said, “YBF was born in Victoria and to be able to raise funds for the state’s coronavirus-resultant food crisis is important to us and the wider community that we serve. We’re proud to be joining ranks with Lucidchart, Wrike, Lander & Rogers and Podium, as part of the 2020 Melbourne Tech Foodbank Fundraiser.”
