One of our founders Nicky is our Creative Director and Nicko (his illustrations are so nice) is our Senior creative (yes, Nicky and Nicko. Strong preference for your name to be anything but Nick) and they need a designer to help execute on their concepts.
You’d still be creative and be able to run with their ideas without much hand-holding and it’s a bonus if you bring ideas of your own, but this role is more design than art direction. You’ll also work closely with Henry in our social team to make his content sparkle and pop.
It would be great if you were able to:
- Use after-effects like it was your full-time job
- Be a creative editor that understands short form edits, timing, and music in content
- Be proficient in digital design tools like Figma, the adobe suite etc
- Really, really understand social media from a strategic and creative standpoint. We don’t want you to live and breathe it, you should breathe oxygen but you should look at each brief and campaign and think “how would I best execute this and on what social channels and to what audience” as well as know the technical outputs for each platform (what’s the best pixel rate for an insta story type stuff)
- Take a sketch or a storyboard and turn it into a final product
- Create really slick and easy to digest walkthrough videos as we want to build a big library of these for customer support in particular
- Have good illustration skills to be able to create original assets
Most of our team is based in Melbourne but we are spread across Australia, LA and Ireland. With our experiences working fully remotely the past few months, we are open to this role being based anywhere in Australia with a slight preference for Melbourne.
What does success in this role look like?
Creativity is a hard thing to measure but we’re looking to elevate the content we produce, what you see on our social channels is the starting point but you’d be able to make it all “better”. Take a good brief and deliver assets back on time and have a good time collaborating with your team. Keep on top of trends in market and if you don’t know how they produced that great piece of work, you’d find out and then learn how to.
How senior? What backgrounds?
You would call yourself somewhere between Mid and Senior, if you want years then a minimum of 2 years in creative agencies or similar in house design roles. We are a tech company but our audience is a really wide demographic from all over the world so we look more for experience and style designing to a similar audience, rather than an understanding of tech.
