Position Title: Community Manager – YBF Melbourne
Location: Melbourne CBD
Part-time/Full-time: Full-time/Part-time

This role will put you in the middle of Melbourne’s and Australia’s vibrant tech and innovation space. YBF, with locations in Melbourne and Sydney, is the premier organisation bringing startups, scaleups and large businesses together to create and nurture a community of some of Australia’s most exciting and well-known tech companies.

As a Community Manager for our Melbourne innovation hub, you’ll be responsible for creating an amazing experience for our members by providing a collaborative, fun and engaging space that supports their objectives and goals. As part of a small but motivated team, you will deliver all required activities to ensure effective, efficient and excellent operations.

Roles and Responsibilities


  • Engage with members, offering them a premium experience including proactively identifying their needs, goals and objectives, and ensuring YBF services are aligned.
  • Successfully deliver weekly community-building events.
  • Work with your team to ensure a high level of member satisfaction and retention.
  • Effectively and efficiently resolve member grievances should they arise.
  • Work with PR & Marketing team to capture social media content and to produce a fun andinformative weekly newsletter.


  • Successfully deliver weekly community-building events.
  • Manage administrative aspects of events including the manage ment of task lists.
  • Look for opportunities to partner with and obtain sponsorships from food and beverage providers.
  • Help promote, drive and manage event attendance.
  • Ensure YBF brand values are demonstrated to the highest level at events.
  • Ensure payment flow for vendors is managed appropriately.

Sales and Retention

  • Generate, engage, and convert sales leads by understanding their needs and tailoring interactions to highlight how we can best support them.
  • Run tours of the space, catering each tour to the needs of the visitor.
  • Forecast upcoming membership changes and work to maintain occupancy by resolving potentialmembership issues, seeking upgrade and retention opportunities, and proactively reaching out to prospective new members.

Space Management

  • Maintain quality of space to premium standards and continuously improve all aspects.
  • Order and maintain space stock and supply levels.
  • Collect and distribute postal mail to teams throughout the space.
  • Help with the coordination of team moves, arrivals and departures.
  • Run regular on-boarding and workplace health and safety tours for new members.
  • Act as a YBF representative and an escalation point during building emergencies.
  • Manage OH&S reporting and resolution.


  • Generate membership agreements and assist new members to understand and complete these.
  • Assist with billing and processing customer payments as required.


  • University qualification preferred.
  • Friendly, outgoing, energetic, creative and fun, and you put people first in everything you do.
  • Passionate about customer service (experience in co-working highly regarded, experience in hotel/hospitality/retail industries a plus).
  • Experience in the tech start-up space.
  • Proven track record of success in a sales-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills (listening, verbal and written communication).
  • Demonstrated business operations and management experience.
  • Strong time-management and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated and good at motivating team members and community members.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to act decisively and in the best interest of the community.
  • Capacity and capability to manage unforeseen challenges.
