International NFP “Django Girls” embraces Melbourne once again with it’s free workshop!

94 countries. 459 cities. 1696 volunteers. 17,123 women. 1 incredible community.

On November 17th, 2018, Common Code will be hosting the Melbourne chapter of Django Girls, a software development workshop for beginners! All you need is a desire to learn, a laptop and completed application.

Django Girls inspires women to fall in love with programming by providing free one-day workshops all over the world. 745 workshops to be exact! The free Python and Django tutorial aims to curate amazing first experiences with technology and encourage career changes and pathways for budding female software developers.

Why should you care? Heres a few familiar reasons that speak for themselves…

Instagram. Google. Youtube. Spotify. Reddit. Pinterest. Dropbox. The Onion. Yep – all of them. Do a quick search of Django and Python apps and you’ll quickly learn that you most definitely interact with these coding enigmas on a daily basis!

If you engage with technology on a daily basis (so.. everyone) and have next to zero idea how it all works, this is your opportunity to learn how to build your very first website from scratch!! With mentors on hand who work in the industry, you’ll have guidance every step of the way and you might even learn more about the tech scene in your city!

During each Django Girls event, 30-60 women build their first web application using HTML, CSS, Python and Django. Do you want to be one of them? Learn more or apply for the Melbourne chapter here.

Already know a thing or two about Django? Or can’t make it to Melbourne for the 17th?
